What formats and resolution do product photos come in
JPG at up to 4K, PNG with a transparent background for product cards, and lightweight web versions. Every shot in four aspect ratios: 1:1, 4:5, 9:16 and 16:9.
PNG with a transparent background is needed wherever the product has to sit on any background: a banner, an ad graphic or a coloured category card. Marketplaces usually require plain white, and for those you get separate JPG files.
Up to 4K gives headroom for zooming on the product card and for printing a catalogue. You do not upload files like that to the store itself, because they slow the page down, which is why lightweight web versions of the same shots are included.
The four ratios come from the channels: square and 4:5 for the feed and product cards, 9:16 for mobile ads and stories, 16:9 for the website and banners. Reframing is not cropping the sides, because the product has to stay in frame with air around it.
