How many pages should a company website have

A service business usually needs five to nine pages: a home page, a separate page for each main service, a portfolio, an about page, contact, and the pages required by law.

The rule is simple: every service that clients ask about separately deserves its own page. Putting five services on one page means none of them stands a chance of ranking well, because a page like that does not answer any specific question directly.

You can overdo it in the other direction too. Twenty pages forced out at two paragraphs each look like filler, and search engines and assistants treat them exactly that way. Six pages with real content will do more than twenty empty ones.
