Is it worth building a website yourself on a site builder
A builder makes sense when the site is meant to be a simple business card for a few months and you are making it with your own hands. When the company is supposed to earn real money online, the limits of a builder usually show up around the third month.
Site builders have done a good job, and putting up a simple page over a weekend is now possible without knowing any code. The trouble starts with loading speed, address structure, structured data and everything that goes beyond the template. That is when it turns out you can only change what the vendor anticipated.
The second issue is time. A business owner who assembles the site alone usually spends several dozen hours on it, and during that time is not doing the thing that actually earns money. That cost never shows up on an invoice, but it is entirely real.
Honestly: if you are still testing a business idea, a builder is a sensible first step. It is worth returning to a conversation about a custom site once you know who your client is and what they pay for.
