How to tell a site needs rebuilding

When it cannot be used sensibly on a phone, when changing the copy needs a contractor, when it brings no enquiries despite the traffic, or when its software no longer gets updates.

The line between fixing and rebuilding is drawn by cost. Once the repair list starts reaching half the price of a new site, patching stops making sense, because you are paying to mend a structure that will be replaced within a year anyway.

The signal you must not ignore is the lack of updates. A site on a system nobody maintains is a matter of time, not of risk, and it usually ends in a forced rebuild at the worst possible moment.

It also runs the other way. A site can look dated yet work, have traffic and bring enquiries. In that case we advise against a rebuild and suggest fixing what genuinely limps, because a new site can undo a search position that took years to earn.
